Nenagh 4 Weeks Alterations & Repairs Sewing Course

DATES: Wednesdays 4th - 25th February.

TIMES: 6pm-8pm (2 hours). 

LOCATION: Nenagh Community Training Centre, St. John's Place, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, E45 E248.

Join fashion designer Laoise Carey for an introduction to carrying out repairs and alterations on your clothing. You will be able to bring in your own clothing to repair, alter and upcycle during the course.

You will learn:

• Hemming on a machine.
• Hand stitching blind hems.
• Taking in and letting out garments.
• Adding patches or embroidered repairs to damaged clothing.
• How to recognise the different sewing techniques used.
• How to carry out alterations on different types of garments.

This course is perfect for those who are familiar with operating a sewing machine but want to learn some more about alterations and repairs. 
The course offers a welcoming space to everyone looking to explore sustainable fashion practices and new sewing techniques in a group learning environment.

CLASS MATERIALS:

Laoise will provide fabrics for repairing with, threads and tools like scissors, pins and rulers.
Please bring some of your own clothing or textiles to this course to carry out alterations and repairs on. 
Please bring your own sewing machine and sewing kit to classes, if you have them.
Sewing machines will be provided for anyone who does not bring their own.
