SUSTAINABILITY
Laoise Carey is currently studying for an MA in Circular Design, with a focus on fashion and textiles, at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin.
Since her BA graduate collection in 2017, she has been committed to using vintage and recycled textiles in her work. Her current studies focus on designing circular solutions to the issue of textile waste.
Laoise ran her eponymous fashion label from 2020-2025, and each garment was handcrafted by Laoise using vintage and antique textiles in every collection, including vintage table linens, damask curtains, lace trims and buttons from grandmothers' button boxes. Her collection also incorporated Irish linens, natural fibres and ex-designer deadstock materials.
Laoise is currently a sewing tutor and is passionate about passing on the skills of dressmaking and garment construction to future generations, who can use these skills to care for and repair, or handcraft their own clothing from scratch.
