Join fashion designer Laoise Carey for a two-day intensive course for intermediate and experienced sewers to cut and sew your very own pair of elastic waist, barrel leg trousers with optional side pockets.
You will learn:
Taking body measurements and adjusting patterns accordingly.
Layplan and cutting fabric.
Adding Pockets.
Sewing an Elasticated Waistband.
Internal finishings of garments.
This course is designed for those who are familiar with operating a sewing machine and have sewn a garment or homewares before. We will have a small group of 8 students to allow time for 1-1 teaching. The course offers a welcoming space to everyone looking to explore sustainable fashion practices and new sewing techniques in a group learning environment.
CLASS MATERIALS:
Laoise will provide notions, trims, threads and tools like scissors, pins and rulers. Please bring your own material to make the trousers from. Please bring your own sewing machine and sewing kit to classes, if you have them. Sewing machines will be provided for anyone who does not bring their own.
BREAK:
Tea/coffee and snacks will be provided during our break at noon.
